Bhutan became a member of the FAO in 1981, and the country office was set up in the mid-1980s. The Food and Agriculture Organization is dedicated to providing extensive support to member countries. In Bhutan, this includes Technical Cooperation Programs, regional initiatives, and both bilateral and multilateral programs. For the 13th Five-Year Plan, the FAO aims to mobilize approximately USD 83 million through various projects. Additionally, FAO Bhutan serves as the Government Accredited Entity, enabling access to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for a water project and the Global Environment Facility (GEF 8 STAR) Allocation.

Job Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics, food systems, development studies, economics, business administration, commerce, social sciences, or another relevant field.

Skills and experience
At least 3 years of relevant experience in entrepreneurship, small-business development, agriculture or agrifood programmes, youth employment, livelihoods, community development, or a related area.
- Experience supporting training, mentoring, capacity-development, or business-development activities.
- Experience working with young people, entrepreneurs, small businesses, community groups, cooperatives, or similar stakeholders.
- General understanding of agriculture, agrifood businesses, livelihoods, value chains, or market access.
- Experience coordinating with public institutions, private-sector actors, civil-society organizations, or development partners is desirable.
- Good communication, facilitation, documentation, and report-writing skills.
- Experience using digital tools for business development, communication, marketing, or knowledge sharing is desirable.
